Research

I'm fascinated about the diversity and evolution of enigmatic (meiofaunal) micromolluscs.
My research focuses on different lineages of (poorly known) panpulmonate slugs and snails.

Research projects:
• Exploration of poorly understood anatomical and ultrastructural features
• Morphological adaptations which come along with habitat shifts (from sea to land or sea to freshwater)
• Evolution of feeding habits and food specialization in molluscs
• Reconstruction of panpulmonate evolution using ultra-conserved elements
• Changes of molluscan diversity of (pre-)alpine habitats due to climate change

My research methods include traditional histology combined with modern imaging techniques (e.g. SEM, TEM, µCT and 3D-modeling) and molecular methods.

If you are interested in a student internship or theses - just drop by.
